Radio Adelaide 101.5fm, broadcasts to the greater Adelaide metropolitan area and near country and provides a real radio alternative for people curious about new ideas, issues, sounds, music and culture. We broadcast innovative, thought-provoking talks programs interspersed with good music for all music lovers. Programs are diverse and varied with a strong focus on news and current affairs, local issues, lifelong learning, arts and culture and community access.

Music starts on the edge of mainstream and expands into a realm of exciting world styles. As part of our commitment to supporting and promoting the arts in South Australia, our specialist music programs invite audiences to hear music not often heard on other stations - classical, hip hop, jazz, metal, blues, folk, bluegrass, punk, African sounds, country, Latin as well as Indigenous and ethnic musical styles. We record and broadcast over 100 local music concerts and gigs each year and play an essential role in Adelaide’s music scene from classical to indie.

With more than 450 volunteers Radio Adelaide brings a wealth of skills, talent and community networks to the airwaves. Our volunteers range in age from 15 to 85, speak over 30 different languages. With this wealth of personnel, we can produce high quality and imaginative programs that play a key role in Adelaide's cultural life. Our achievements have been recognised by over 65 broadcasting awards in the last 10 years. As a progressive broadcaster Radio Adelaide was the first community station to broadcast on the internet 24 hours a day via Real Audio: www.radio.adelaide.edu.au

Listeners are linked by interests and attitude rather than age.
Radio Adelaide is Adelaide's most popular community station and also has the highest awareness. Over 75,000 people listen regularly every week. Listeners are evenly spread amongst all age groups with our two strongest groups being 16 -24 year olds and people over 50. This reflects the appeal of the stations alternative choice of programming, of interest to these two influential and trend setting groups. They range from students to blue collar workers, to professionals, to retirees; they are people active in their community, engaged with arts and culture, interested in current events and interests and looking for something beyond mainstream commercialism.

Radio Adelaide’s reputation for providing quality radio industry training is unsurpassed! Radio Adelaide is a Registered Training organisation providing nationally accredited training since 1996. Among our numerous awards for training is the 1999 Adult Learning Australia Award for Outstanding Training Provider of the Year.

Radio Adelaide is Australia's first community radio station; established by the University of Adelaide in 1972. It broadcasts from high-profile street front studios on North Terrace, Adelaide at around 13 kilowatts. This means our signal reaches across the Adelaide metropolitan area to also include some of the surrounding country regions - the Mid-North and the Yorke, Fleurieu and eastern Eyre Peninsulas.
