TUNE!FM Staff Under VSU Threat

Edward Campbell, Station Manager of TUNE!FM, a station supported by the University of New England Student Association (UNESA), is at the centre of a controversy over station funding.

Last Friday, 3 June, he was advised by the President and Treasurer of UNESA that "due to Voluntary Student Unionism Legislation, UNESA could no longer afford to pay wages and therefore his employment was terminated". The reaction from the station community has been one of concern, with suggestions that the UNESA executive was attempting to bully Mr Campbell, and VSU, which is not due to come into effect until 2006, was a convenient excuse.
