Huon FM provides an innovative supplementary and complementary service to the Huon Valley and Kingborough municipalities as well as surrounding areas. It is a leading community service/current affairs provider for its target area. Huon FM caters for the whole community including minority interests, the elderly and youth. It has volunteers aged from 12 to 70 years plus. The station broadcasts from a former fire station having started as a school based narrow caster. Huon FM, now broadcast in stereo, has two frequencies 95.3 situated on Doody’s Hill, Geeveston and 98.5 situated on Herringback Ridge, Sandfly. Huon FM now has the capacity to broadcast to over 50,000 listeners.
