If you’ve ever driven past 386 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth you might be excused for not knowing what goes on behind the glass-brick fronted premises. In fact it contains the studios of “World Radio” 6EBA-FM 95.3 Mhz, Perth’s only full-time community owned and operated multilingual/ethnic radio station.
Some 85+ languages are broadcast over the airwaves to metropolitan Perth, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, come rain or shine. Some 450 trained volunteers and their guests come to the studios every week (in total approximately 1,000 people).
It’s almost twenty (20) years since 6EBA-FM gained its own licence and began broadcasting from North Perth. Multilingual broadcasters commenced on the airwaves through Curtin Radio 6NR in 1979. On Australia Day In 1990 the station broadcasting in its own right for the first time from rented premises at 20 View Street, North Perth and in 1996 the station moved to its current location at 386 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth.
The station is owned and operated by the Multicultural Radio & TV Association of WA Inc. (MRTA) and is administered by a 16 member council, elected every two years by the Association’s members. The current chairman of the MRTA is Mr Nikola Nikolich JP. The member groups are encouraged to fully participate in all aspects of the Association/Station’s work.
6EBA continuously and effectively increases youth participation in its Youth Annex located in Maylands. Tune in mornings Monday to Friday and Monday evenings 10pm till midnight to hear young multicultural voices, diverse & popular music, interviews, etc.
6EBA offers volunteer broadcast positions and delivers high quality training.
Ethnicability, a show for people with disabilities from an ethnic background, is broadcast Tuesdays 11:30 to noon.

The Seniors Show (currently in recess) broadcasts every Thursday 11am to 1pm
The Moonlight Session has regular appearance of live musicians/bands/DJs, motivating interviews, informative segments, world music and feel-good tunes and goes to air Mondays 10pm to midnight.
