Walk-off sites to be heritage listed

Thirty years ago after Aboriginal stockmen and station hands went on strike at remote Wave Hill station and captured world headlines, it was announced the places associated with their walk-off were being considered for national heritage listing. The Chairperson of the Australian Heritage Commission, Ms Wendy McCarthy AO, said the Commission proposed to enter seven sites closely connected to the events at Wave Hill in the register of the National Estate.
