Radio Station Puranyangu-Rangka Kerrem is the local voice of Halls Creek on the airwaves. Situated in the heart of the Kimberley, PRK Media is one of four sister stations set up in 1994.

PRk was a fully licensed 24-hour radio station by 1998, however in the early days only tow to three hours a would be broadcast out of the studio, with other programming sourced from the ABC, as well as the “Deadly Sounds” and “Awaye” programs.

Today, the community of Halls Creeks loves their radio station. Manager Sandy Dann says there is a great vibe around, everyone knows everyone and the radio station is blaring throughout the entire town.

The station has had a positive effect on some of the problems of this outback town. Through the broadcast of various health segments, some of the issues such as alcohol abuse and petrol sniffing are being dealt with.

The most popular show is the request show, where their tagline is: bring em’ ring em’ or sing em’.

PRK has offered Hall’s Creek’s Aboriginal community a sense of pride, and everyone wants to be a part of the radio station. PRK is a radio station the whole community interacts with of and can enjoy.
