Despite an unprecedented/intentioned programming style, we have gained support and recognition from listeners, local business, local Council, and the CBAA.
We continue to grow from strength to strength with the main ingredient of our success we believe, is our focus on establishing strong links with local business and organisations and reflecting what the local Community is interested in.

BOXING DAY DISASTER 2004 TSUNAMI HITS SOUTH EAST ASIA
Thousands of lives lost, many people missing, homes destroyed. Help was need urgently!
The stories and images that emerged were so emotive, we just had to do something.
Instigated by a Sponsor of 101.3FM, local businesses, entertainers, suppliers, individuals and Noosa Community Radio joined forces to conduct a live Simulcast of a Concert and Auction to raise money for the Tsunami victims/survivors. Over six thousand people attended and $198,000 was raised for the Tsunami victims along with lots of donations. Noosa Community Radio is proud of it’s role in this unique event. More recently at the 2005 CBAA Conference we received recognition for our efforts by taking out the category: ‘BEST PLACE FOR AN OB ’

Noosa Mayor, Bob Abbott poses for a photo with Luke and Natasha, students from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
The students chose to do their workplace experience with us, as a result of their Marketing studies. The Noosa Show Outside Broadcast was a first in the region due to the fact it is held in the historical country town of Pomona, the original location of the Noosa Council Chambers.

‘Radio Yo Yo’ CBAA recognition 2004, ‘Highly Commended Children’s Program’
In addition to the ‘High Commendation’ Radio Yo Yo received last year, Jo has continued to engage with her young audience by way of recording plays with local primary school children for air on ‘Radio Yo Yo’.
She also made sure that each of the children who participated were given their own personal copy of the CD with a photo of themselves on the cover, sitting behind the mic in the studio, making this a very special and unique opportunity to children so young.
Sean is a Presenter devoted to focusing entirely on the local music scene, bringing to the airwaves a variety of local talent through live performances and live interviews on his show, The Living Lounge.
Seen here at the Eumundi Markets, engaging in live performances with founder of Noosa Community Radio, Barry Charles and local rising entertainer, Josie Cubis. Sean has also maintained a weekly Newsletter to a long list of listeners weekly, informing them of upcoming events on his program and in the local region.
Noosa Community Radio regularly conducts Outside Broadcasts from the Eumundi Markets at the Manager’s request. They love us coming out and better still, they pay us to do it! The band you are listening now are local to the Sunshine Coast and regularly play at the market. Original artists performing locally
'The Back Doorstep' is a show that has been presented by Rob Maitland for approximately 8 years now and has embraced the loads of Original Music Artists who struggle to have their music heard and played on radio. As a Muso himself, Rob understands that this is essential to paving the way in the Music Industry irrespective of it’s genre.
Rob also shows his appreciation to the Original Music Artists who bring their talents to the Sunshine Coast Region.
Rob has formerly held the positions of Secretary and President with the station and today still maintains his enthusiasm with Noosa Community Radio.
LOCAL MUM APPEALS TO NOOSA COMMUNITY RADIO FOR HELP, TO RAISE FUNDS FOR A LIFE SAVING DRUG
HOW HAVE WE TRIED TO HELP THIS YOUNG MUM WITH HER FIGHT FOR LIFE?
Pre recorded Interiew made available to all Presenters for air play on Studio Computer.
Community Service Announcement with all relevant details including how donations could be made in on air studio.
It does not seem enough but we can only hope we have helped Symmon in some way.
In light of the high number of drownings and associated incidents on the Sunshine Coast, we approached the local Surf Life Saving Club for information to put together Community Announcements that would help to remind people of the things they should be aware of at the beach. They were more than grateful to assist, as we were in being proactive. To date there had not been announcements of this nature aired on radio, Commercial or Community. If it saves just one tragedy occurring, it will be worth it!
Successful RADF Grant to produce & distribute CD for local music artists
Rob Ruger is a Presenter at Noosa Community Radio. He also owns a sound Production studio.
Earlier this year Rob was successful with an application to Noosa Shire Council for an RADF Grant which gives assistance to local artists.
He was able to gain the interest and commitment of local musos to participate in the project and, as a result has produced a CD of local talent for distribution throughout Australia, giving them an opportunity to be heard where they may not have had otherwise.
To top it off, a Simulcast was held on the night of the CD launch by Noosa Community Radio, thus completing the experience.
CBAA AWARD 2005 ‘INNOVATION IN TRAINING’ - Training at Noosa Community Radio
Presenters Course:
9 sessions, two hours weekly. Week one and two are group sessions with the first being about Community Radio, our history and structure, workplace safety and a preview of the course. The second week concentrates on the Codes of Practice and legal responsibilities.
Hands on training in an off air studio takes place between weeks 3 and 7 with an experienced announcer as trainer. This is done either invidually or with one other trainee.
Week nine the trainee produces a Demo tape for assessment. Trainees are mentored through their first few shows until they are confident and capable. Resource materials include a Training Manual & supply of cassette tape and mini-disc and a Manual for trainers.
Production Training:
Since February 2005, the Production team has embraced new Digital Technology. We have trained all Production personnel to use Adobe Audition.
We have group meetings and developed an outline of procedures to introduce new members to the program. We now have
6 - 8 competent Production staff for all our Sponsorship and Promotion work.
We are excited with the new ability to see sound and it has certainly improved our overall broadcasting standard.
Accredited Training at 4NSA:
4NSA is committed to continue offering a complete CBAA Cert III in Radio Broadcasting.
Run over 4 months of weekly lectures in each unit, and one on one tutorials at our studios. The team of 9 lecturers and 4 tutors at present, all have Cert III in Radio Broadcasting and Cert IV in Workplace Training. They are also looking to be accredited with a Cert IV in Radio Broadcasting early in the new year.
The next course is due to commence in Feb 2006.
MJM Player Software Studio:
This year, in addition to our Cert III in Radio Broadcasting and In-House Training, we were faced with the task of training all our Presenters ( 70 plus) with the new Broadcasting Computers and Software.
With four Trainers and a tight timetable, the Training was a success (making exception for an elderly gent) enabling a smooth transition to the new equipment.
It has definitely been worthwhile with great improvements in areas such as efficiency and broadcasting.
Reception:
The front office of Noosa Community Radio is manned six days a week. At present there are 11 Receptionists with other members to standby to fill-in. The station also has some volunteers with disabilities, who are supervised by office staff and assist with office duties. A Skill Centered Trainee also works at the station several hours a week.
Each Receptionist is trained in basic office skill and OH & S. Shifts are of 4 hours duration, once a week. Duties include answering phone, greeting visitors, assisting presenters, Administration and word processing Community Announcements.
We have a huge year ahead with our intended relocation to noosa junction, but the show must go on. Further outside broadcasts to connect with our Community and to raise our profile!
A new regular outside broadcast venue, every 2 months minimum, showcasing an open air family friendly concert at the ‘Peregian Originals’, the first of which, occurred just last weekend (Dec 10, 2005).
